Congratulations to Judith Kerr!

Huge congratulations to author and illustrator Judith Kerr on receiving an OBE for services to children’s literature and Holocaust education.

She has been a favourite in our household for many years. First for her Mog titles:

Then for the classic The Tiger Who Came to Tea

And finally for her fictionalised accounts of her family’s experience on the run during the Second World War.

We love that she’s a cat lover like us:

And it’s quite amazing to realise that she never meant to draw them – she only did so because her own felines did odd things that the family thought were interesting.

There’s a great interview with her from the Telegraph that’s worth a read if you’d like to find out more about this fascinating lady and the lovely work she creates.
